Mission 26 [Voice/Action]

[April 2nd - action]

[The first person to wake up in the morning in Adell and Luka's apartment might be in for a shock - Erza's in the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge. She's not too concerned, of course - she drops in unannounced all the time. Totally normal behaviour. :\]

Is it just me, or are we missing a day? ...Also, you're out of jam.

[Later on, once she feels like things have been sorted out, Erza opens up her journal. It's been a while since she asked about this, but the weather seems right for it and she could use some exercise after being cooped up.]

Is there anyone who wants to spar? I prefer to use swords, though I could use practice with hand-to-hand fighting.

[Throughout the rest of the week, Erza can be found around town, buying clothes, patrolling for any wrongdoing, or drinking at Seventh Heaven. Luka may or may not be with her on these occasions - Erza's trying to get her out more, but she doesn't always succeed.]

((OoC: Sorry if this seems kind of hodgepodge - I wanted to post this earlier in the week, but essays and assignments ate up most of my free time. Feel free to specify the date, and whether you want to talk to Erza, Luka, or both in the subject line. Oh, and the AU is that Luka is a member of the Fairy Tail guild; see here for further details))

[Well, Adell's the first one up and he comes out of his room with a yawn. He's wearing his pajama pants, but it's clear he just woke up considering he's not wearing a shirt. That and the bleariness in his eyes.

He passes by the kitchen to head toward the bathroom, and he sees Erza out of the corner of his eye. He greets her with a voice that definitely sounds only half awake.]

...Mornin', Erza.

[And he continues walking... for about two steps.]

...Wait, Erza?

[Adell looks back into the kitchen.]

What are you doing here this early in the morning?!

[Luka was just lazing about in bed for a bit longer, holding Whiskers close to her. But upon hearing Adell, she gets up, a bit sluggishly to check what's the problem. She peeks at the kitchen from behind Adell to see what's wrong... And sees nothing wrong.]

Ah! Good morning, Erza-san! I'm sorry, I forgot about the jam last time I went for groceries.

[And she... Smiles widely. Okay, it's not terribly wide but it's definitively more openly than what Adell is used to. Even the tone of her voice is warmer and happier. Other than that Luka is still Luka, clad in her violet pajamas... With Fairy Tail's symbol on her right cheek.]

[Erza raises an eyebrow at Adell's confusion, before chuckling.] Getting breakfast, of course. Plus, I can't remember what happened yesterday - I wanted to see if Luka was having the same problem.

That's okay - I'll be fine with butter for my toast. [Erza seems to be a bit more relaxed than normal, and not as stern - but why wouldn't she be? After all, the only people here are her close friends.]

[Adell sees Luka emerge, looking much the same as normal... except wearing a bright smile that he's almost never seen before. Her welcoming and openly friendly demeanor is confusing, but what puzzles him more is the symbol boldly emblazoned on her cheek.

That was the symbol of Erza's Guild. He blinks and is just stunned silent for the moment.

He looked back and forth between Erza and Luka, and just looked utterly dumbfounded.]

Yesterday?

[Let her think for a second here... Actually a bit longer, but by the way she frowns in confusion it seems clear what the answer is.]

That's strange, I can remember most of the week but I can't remember anything specific from yesterday... Adell, do you remember what happened yesterday?

[She stares at him, the same way as always, though her expression is far more open and easy to read than normally when she just stares emotionless.]

Yes, it's the same with me. [This is troubling to Erza; usually, her memory is quite good. It briefly crosses her mind that, in some worlds, the first of April is supposed to be dedicated to pranks, but she doesn't see how the Malnosso would find temporary amnesia to be funny. ...Actually, scratch that - they'd probably find it hilarious.]

[However, she's not so lost in thought that she fails to notice the confusion on Adell's face.] Is there something wrong, Adell?

...I lost a day too. Can't remember a damn thing from yesterday.

[But he looks between the two of them, and lets out a deep sigh. If this was an experiment... well, he's sure he remembers correctly. But something is going on.]

...This is gonna sound stupid. But when did Luka get the mark of your guild on her cheek? Because that sure wasn't there two days ago, not how I remember it.

[No, it doesn't sound stupid, it sounds ridiculously stupid. Luka blinks and frowns at him confused.]

What are you talking about, Adell? I have always been a member of Fairy Tail, you know it! I have never removed my guild mark since I joined the guild five years ago.

Are you sure you're just forgetting whatever happened yesterday?

...She got that mark when she joined my guild. You mean you never noticed it in all that time? [She'd always pegged Adell as being more observant than that. It's not like the mark is particularly hidden or anything.] Or maybe the Malnosso are messing with your memories for some reason - it wouldn't be the first time that they did something like this.

Great. This is just perfect. Just what I wanted for breakfast. Scrambled brains.

[He's pretty sure his brain is fine. But whatever. Probably not worth arguing over.]

Guess we'll just have to deal with the confusion for awhile.

It's not something that hard to get, though. Is it? Adell has forgot that I was from Fairy Tail, but if that's all it's not that bad.

[Or is it? She looks at Erza to check if what she's saying is right or not. Apparently she still has moments of insecurity after all.]

[Erza nods to both of them.] I'm sure things will go back to normal soon - if this is a Malnosso experiment, it's a rather odd one, but I'm sure the effects won't last.

[And her toast is done, so she starts buttering it.] By the way, what did you two want for breakfast? [She had just made herself some toast for herself while she was waiting, but now that they're awake, she might as well ask.]

[Adell blinks as he looks over to Luka again, but then turns his attention over to Erza.]

Yeah, they never do. Just gonna be frustrating to know there have been memories messed with for however long. Not something I'm cool with.

...But uh... whatever's good for me. You want something specific, Luka?

Oh... Uhm... I'm fine with toasts too. I'll take care of it.

[Rushing to prepare the rest of the breakfast.]

Do you want something else, Erza?

A spar!? Sure I wouldn't mind sparring!

[Luffy has been AU'd as a ninja from Naruto's world! So the way he fights is going to be significantly different!]

[ooc: OH! As far as the date. Hmm. I think any day after the 2nd should be fine.]

Nah, the barracks should be fine! I'll see you there soon okay?

[Though Luffy isn't going to do his usual Gomu Gomu no Rocket to get there. Instead he's going to pull a Chouji and use the Akimichi's signature technique Baika no Jutsu to roll there.]

[It doesn't take particularly long for Erza to reach the barracks, so she waits outside for Luffy to show up. She doesn't see him, though - the only thing that catches her eye is a giant ball that's rolling through town. Seems like an odd sight, but she just passes it off as being part of the general weirdness of Luceti.]

[Well Erza might be in for a surprise when the ball comes to a halt when it reaches the front of the barracks. Luffy's head pops out of the top and he gives her a huge grin.]

ERZA! OI!

[...Well, that's just strange. Though Luffy would probably do something like that at least once, even if he wasn't affected by an experiment, but she doesn't know that.]

...Hello, Luffy. Why are you rolling around like that? [Erza's... kind of straightforward when it comes to asking questions.]

Hahaha! What do you mean I always roll around like that! It's cause I'm an Akimichi! That's what we do.

[Well. Most Akimichi's probably wouldn't abuse the jutsu like that but whatever.]

Is that some term that your world uses for pirates? [She shrugs.] Guess it doesn't really matter. Are you ready to start?

Oh! That's right you don't know! For the next few days, I'm a ninja because of an experiment. Or at least that's what everyone says. If that's true I'll be back to normal in a few days I guess.

[Or something.]

Shishishi! Yeah I'm ready! I'm already in my attack form though so you better be prepared! [And then! He's going to go full speed in his ball form and try to roll Erza over.]

I see. But how can you attack like...

[...Well, that answered that question. Erza manages to dive out of the way in time to avoid being flattened.] Doesn't that make you dizzy? [Regardless, she's ex-quipping to her Flight Armour - at this point, she'll need to focus on speed.]

HAHA! Well it did a little at first, but you get used to it!

[And despite his cheerful voice he turns in the direction you dived in and rolls after you FASTER Erza!]

Hm, what sort of sparring? I wouldn't mind playing partner if you can supply the swords.

Oh, I can certainly do that. As far as what sort of sparring, that depends on what you're up for - I could go all-out and do a general practice session, or I could stick to one type of weapon and work on form.

I wouldn't want you to have to limit yourself for my sake if you have something in mind. I'll leave that up to you.

[...I don't think Minako realizes what she might have gotten herself into.] Sounds good. How about we meet at the barracks?

The barracks it is then. You'll have to pardon any tardiness; I'm still getting used to the layout of this place! But I'll see you soon, Miss...?

Erza Scarlet - it's a pleasure to meet you. And you are?

Minako Arisato. I hope I'll serve as a suitable opponent, Scarlet-san!

I'm sure you'll do fine.

[By the time that Minako gets there, Erza will be practicing on the dummies. She'll be in her usual outfit, which still seems like a bit much for simple training.]

[She's on her way.]

[It won't be long before Erza arrives at the barracks - she's been back and forth all day, so she tries not to stray too far from it. Heading inside, she decides to practice her swordplay on one of the training dummies while she waits.]

[Ran Fan shows up. Upon seeing the other girl, she bows politely.]

I am Ran Fan. Thank you for offering to spar. I haven't trained in awhile, so this is very helpful.

Nice to meet you, Ran Fan - I'm Erza Scarlet. And it's no problem; I could use the practice too. [Her sword disappears in a brief flash of light.] So how do you want to do this? Anything goes? Hand-to-hand? Or just practicing with a certain type of weapon? [She's open to pretty much anything - one good thing about her magic is that it makes it easier for her to adapt.]

Hand-to-hand is fine. I do have a metal arm, so you're welcome to use a weapon.

It's okay - it'll make for an interesting challenge. [She doesn't usually fight people with metal arms, but she tries to be prepared for anything. Exquipping (in other words, magically changing her clothes) into a karate uniform - something like what Ryu, from Street Fighter, wears - Erza cracks her knuckles.] I'm ready whenever you are!

[WHOA! That was cool.

Ran Fan gets into a defensive stance, ready to attack. She gives the other a nod before advancing to attack, a fist aimed for the other girl's shoulder.]

If you don't mind sword to jitte, I'll practice with you. And otherwise, hand to hand is fine too.

Can't say I've fought many jitte users before - it should make for good practice. Any place you had in mind?

Barracks works for me if it works for you.

Sure. I'm basically there anyways, so that works.

Not really - just stop by whenever you're ready.

Back home, I was one of the best. That probably doesn't mean much here, but I can hold my own.

[He'll be sitting on a large rock meditating when she arrives. His swords will be resting at his feet, lined in a row.]

[Those directions might not be the best, but she does find him eventually - that green hair is hard to miss. Once she gets close, she waits a bit before speaking up; it would be rude to interrupt while he's meditating, but he did say to come whenever.]

You ready?

[His only response is to grin, open his eyes, and reach out a hand for one of his swords. Wadou Ichimonji. Erza would get no less than his best sword for this friendly spar.]

Roronoa Zoro. [He inclines his head respectfully.]

[Erza uses her magic to change into this outfit. It doesn't have any special properties to speak of, unlike the other outfits that she fights in, but she's faster without armour weighing her down, and she sees no need (at least, not yet) to focus heavily on defense if it's a friendly sparring match.]

Erza Scarlet. [She nods, summoning a sword of her own into her hand, and assumes a defensive stance.]

[Zoro's eyebrows shoot up slightly but he manages not to comment on Erza's strange technique.

He bows, a formality he hasn't had to use in years, and slides into his own stance: left hand resting on Wadou's hilt, feet positioned at a steady shoulder width. Normally Zoro would rush to strike first but he'd already decided to take it slow and steady. At least, if his opponent didn't have any more surprising tricks up her sleeve.

Somehow he doubted he would get the chance. The thought of a challenge excited him and he couldn't resist flashing Erza an impatient grin.] Don't keep me waiting.
