[After appearing in a wooden cabin in the forest, seemingly unable to use her magic, Erza left the small building with nothing but the clothes she was brought here with, an empty book she found that seemed to have some magic in it, and a pair of wings on her back. She wasn't sure where they had came from, but stranger things had happened to her before so she didn't mind. After wandering around for a while, she wound up just south of the village. At this point, she started sorting out what she planned on doing upon entering the small community.]

Okay, first thing's first - I need money. There's got to be some kind of jobs that people need done, but I'll probably have to stick with lower-risk jobs than what I'm used to. I can't perform up to my usual standards if I don't have weapons or armour. After I've got some money, I should find any kind of clothing store. It would be helpful if they sold armour as well, but if not, I can make due with what they have. Also, I need to find a blacksmith; I can't go around unarmed.

I'll also need to find some place to live, but I can worry about that once I have enough money to rent an apartment or something. If I get swords and armour, I could take more difficult jobs which would pay more, making my search for a place to live easier.

I wonder if the same thing's happened to Natsu, Lucy, and Gray... I could see Natsu enjoying this sort of scenario, Gray certainly wouldn't mind the weather, and even Lucy might enjoy this given time. She certainly seems to adapt to strange situations well, at the least.

...Wait, what if this "town" is filled with monsters? Better be on my guard; attacks could come from any angle.

Nah, it's just some communication device. My name's Flik, with no c in it. Just am one of the folks living here. [He's feeling a need to specify now thanks to someone here who found his name amusing.]

Okay, Flik, you don't sound like a monster, so what's "Luceti" and why don't we need money?

It's the name of this place. And beats me why money isn't needed, but it just isn't. Has it's perks, the lack of needing a job leaves most of us bored.

Hm... I could see that happening. So, do you have wings as well? A pair of them appeared on my back when I got here, apparently.

Also, I realized I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Erza Scarlet, a member of the mage's guild Fairy Tail.

A pleasure to meet you. And yes, everyone here has wings of various colors, but many do hide them under cloaks because of the cold weather.

Do you need any assistance finding your things or a shelter?

I should be fine with finding my equipment, thanks. Someone else showed me a guide to this place which had where I could get what I need. I don't have any kind of shelter, but first, I have a question: have you seen any of my friends running about?

A young man with bright red hair, almost pink, who wears a scarf and vest regardless of the weather, along with pants, and he can breathe fire. His name's Natsu Dragonil, and there would likely be a blue talking cat following him around. Then there's Gray Fullbuster, a dark-haired teenager who often strips with no provocation and can create weapons out of ice, and Lucy Heartfilia, who's young, blonde, generally considered to be fairly well-endowed, and carries around a set of gold and silver keys along with a whip. They're good friends of mine, and if they're here, I need to find them right away.

Can't say I've seen anyone who looks like that or heard those names or talents. You might also ask at the Welcome Center or the shops. That doesn't mean they won't come later, people arrive every month from various worlds.

And the Welcome Center should help with finding shelter. They have a list of places that are available.

Hm... I see. I suppose I should be relieved though; it means they aren't involved in these experiments.

You're welcome. And that thought may be a relief, but it sure doesn't stop me from worrying about my own good friend and what trouble he might be getting into no matter what the guide may say.

Yeah, I think we all know that in our minds, but our hearts want to say otherwise. We only tend to worry because we care, right?

Hopefully these things that brought us here grow tired of experimenting on us soon; then we could all go home to our friends and families.

They're fairly commonplace amongst the various Netherworlds, yeah. I don't know any magic myself, though.

"Netherworlds"?

That's just what they call planets and worlds where I'm from.

You're talking fairly casually about contacting other worlds... How powerful are the mages on your planet? There have to be some exceptionally powerful ones if they are capable of finding out about and possibly communicating with life on other planets, but is that the norm or is it only a few of them that can do that?

...You know, I never thought about how strange it might be. The ones on my planet aren't anywhere near the most powerful ones in the universe. We travel using Dimensional Gates. No, I really don't know how they work.

And really, most life on other worlds is... mostly the same as mine or others. ...Mostly demons, monsters, and some humans.

Are there any demons from your world here?

Yes. But don't worry too much about it. Demons from my world seem to be pretty different from demons in other peoples' worlds.

For your sake, I hope you're right. Where I come from, demons are the creations of an ancient evil wizard, massive malevolent creatures with nothing but destruction on their minds; I suppose not every world is the same, though.

...Yeah. Those aren't the demons from my world. Demons from my world like to talk a big game about being evil. But most of them are just selfish at worst, and they can know of love or caring. ...Even if most of them refuse to admit to it.

...Really? I've never heard of a demon feeling love or caring for anything before. This whole experience will probably take me a while to get used to; I'm sure there are probably even bigger cultural differences that I'm going to encounter.

Probably. There was quite a bit of that for me too. You'll get used to it pretty fast, Erza.

But yeah, it's sounding like demons where I'm from are unique like that. ...But make no mistake, a lot of demons are still very, very strong.

[He laughs.]

It's fortunate most of them are content with petty evils.

I've gotten pretty used to talking into a book. I think I can handle this given time.

So your demons are strong, you said? Maybe I should fight one some time. The latest demon I fought was really weak; it went down in three hits.

Are these things magical in nature, or is the source of their power unknown?

It might be a blend of both magical and scientific. No one's truly certain.

I see. By the way, that guide you showed me earlier, it mentioned some clothing stores and a smithy. Where are those in relation to the rest of the town? From where I am, I can see a bunch of buildings with numbers out front that range somewhere in the mid-fifties, sixty at the highest.

The stores can all be found in the Village Square for the most part.

I could see that sort of job being difficult; I'm sure there are a lot of idiots out there who don't understand what you're talking about no matter how many times you explain it.

Oh I rarely find them that great of a hindrance. After all, there is only so much we HAVE to do before they're on their own.

Are you sure, though? These Malnosso things that I've heard about, they likely aren't exclusively picking good people to bring to this world. Is there anyone you've heard about who is particularly evil?

O-oh ... well, there are some people, then. I've only heard of Kefka, and some other guy with a long, blond braid who wears all black. There might be a few others, but there are so many heroes here that we never really have a lot of trouble!

Can you describe this "Kefka" person? Do you know what he or she looks like?

Well, I've never seen him or anything, but I heard he looks like a clown ...

I suppose that's always a good thing; you're fairly lucky to not have met any evil people while you've been here. Thank you for the help with this.

The more I know about who I should be wary around, the better. I talked to someone earlier who said they came from a place where demons weren't evil, just selfish, and that they were capable of caring for others. It would probably be best for me to know who's outright evil so that I don't attack the wrong people simply based on appearances.

Oh, that sounds a lot like the place I came from, too! But you're right -- some people here look kinda scary, but they're not bad people at all!

I hope you don't run into any of the people here that actually are evil, though ... Everyone has enough to worry about while being here, I think.

Basically, yes. However, there is one thing that hasn't been answered yet: do you know if any of the clothing stores in this place sell armour?

[Armor...?] If you were wearing it before you came here, then your armor should be there. If not, then there is a chance you'll find some others, since a lot of the people here seem to don some sort of protective gear.

That's good. I had armour before I came here, but it wasn't with me when I arrived, and for some reason I can't use my magic here to summon any of the armours I own. Do you think it would be in any of the clothing stores mentioned in the guide that a person named Sasarai showed me earlier?

((OoC: I chose to have this happen because Erza's magic can also summon weapons in addition to armour; seeing as nobody else starts with weapons, she wouldn't be able to either. My in-character reasoning is that her magic works when she's in the same dimension as her armour, so otherwise, she's stuck with what she's wearing until she can find more options.))

There is a chance, but I can't guarantee it. Would a completely different set of armor be good enough, though, in case it's not there?

I'll be fine with anything as long as it fits me.

Then I suppose you'll find something there.
